Powerbodybuilding

Powerbodybuilding
Maybe some of you do not know the meaning of the term powerbodybuilding. It is a term that was made up by an old training partner of mine and myself as well.We used it to describe those who are using a mixture of powerlifting as well as bodybuilding to achieve the results that we are after in our bodybuilding endeavors. As you are probably well aware, powerlifters take an extremely heavy weight and train to lift it only once whereas bodybuilders lift a lighter weight many times to achieve the results that they are after.Neither worked well for me when it came to putting on the size that i was after, so as i mentioned earlier, an old training partner revamped our workouts to incorporate both into our training and soon thereafter we saw amazing results! Some of the exercises are the same and some are new, which i will write about in future blogs to share all that i have learned over the course of my over fifteen years of "powerbodybuilding".Until then, train hard and smart!

Triceps power move

This is a triceps move that i use when i am trying to get past a sticking point in my triceps or bench pressing training; Lying flat on a bench, grasp two dumbells, one in each hand and begin by holding the dumbells with the weights against your chest with your knuckles facing each other. Move to the position as if you are doing a skull crusher with the dumbells but instead of the skull crusher movement lead with your elbows and with great control and "throw" the weights forward towards your feet but do not let the dumbells leave your line of vision. Use a light weight at first until you get used to the movement, it can be hard on the elbows at first, so get used to the movement, then move up in weight. If you are doing them correctly, you won't need a lot of weight to feel these, espically if you've never done them before. There is probably a name for these, but i do not know it, an old friend who is a powerlifter showed me this exercise and they've helped me a lot!
