The mediterranean Diet

The "mediterranean diet" is a general term used to describe the traditional dietary patterns of people living in the regions bordering the mediterranean sea. The cultures of these countries differ dramatically however one parallel is evident, they share the common characteristic of being a primarily plant based diet with olive oil as the principle source of fat. In these regions heart disease is low on the scale of terminal diseases and studies show that the reason for this may be the ingestion of olive oil.
There are also other common traits as well they are as follows;
-Olive oil is the principle form of fat and total daily fat intake generally ranges around 30% of calories daily.
-Salt is rarely added in large quantities
-Wine is moderately consumed with meals, primarily by men.Women often do not drink wine at all and alcohol is rarely consumed without food.
I am not one to promote any "fad diets" and i am aware that there is a fad diet published about the fore mentioned diet, however in this case i am merely pointing out some helpful as well as "healthful" dietary changes that could easily be made in anyone's everyday life and Be of benefit to this out of control garbage eating society.
