Muscle confusion;
Every once in a while it is good to change up your workout routine and throw the muscles a "curve ball" by doing something either a little different or completely different within your training routine. Ted and i do this in many ways and one such example of this is our most recent training schedule. We are currently training one body part a day and we are training six days a week, leaving sunday as the day off to spend with our families. This enables us to concentrate on the muscle we are working and we can give the muscle a good "thrashing" by doing a few more sets for that body part without the chance of overtraining it. With only one body part a day, we are giving the muscle plenty of time to rest before we go at it again and this allows us to really work the muscles in that area as hard as we need to in order to promote growth.
Last year we were on a two body parts a day schedule, whereas, we trained a large body part, such as chest, with a small body part, such as triceps. Currently, we are on an upper lower schedule, by this i am referring to the days of the week and the body parts trained each day. Monday is back day and tuesday is hamstring day, and so on. Each day is alternated to make sure that the upper body is never trained twice on consecutive days, therefore allowing the upper body ample time to rest before we do any exercises requiring the upper torso. The lower body is treated in the exact same way.
We start the week with back and hamstrings due to the fact that that is where the judges mentioned to ted and glen at the show in july, is where ted needs the most improvements to be made. So we leave the beginning of the week for the weak body parts to hit them extremely hard after coming back from resting on sunday.
Winter is finally here and it is time to get back to the big weights and to pull out the sweatshirts from the closet and to begin the quest for inhuman size. So start eating wisely with a little junk, for those of you out to put on size this winter and hit the big weights! Can't you just hear those one hundred and fifty pound dumbells calling your name, they've missed you all summer and it's time to give them the attention they so rightly deserve!!!!!!!
