Mind Gym;
I am currently reading a book by the title of Mind Gym by Gary Mack with David Casstevens and the last short chapter i just got through reading made me think about my injury of a torn biceps tendon in 2007 while in a powerlifting meet in delaware. I won my class with my previous lift but decided at the last minute to try a fourth lift which would have put me at the top of the national list in my weight class in the country. I came within two inches of lockout before my body shut down after my biceps tendon tore off the bone and snapped in two. Over the next several months i went through many different mental playbacks wishing i didn't go for that fourth lift and it, to say the least, got me depressed. But i always knew in the back of my mind that i would be back to where i was without a doubt. The first chance i got i put my bad arm in a sling and went to the gym to train all the other bodyparts that i could with my arm in that sling. I was able to squat on the smith machine and do a lot of other leg exercises during that six month period while my arm was immobile but nonetheless i did not let that injury get in the way of my sanity and my need to get to the gym. Two years have gone bye and i am better than ever and sometimes i think how much farther i might be had that injury not have happened but i learned a lot about my self during that time. Life as well is all about more setbacks and failures than about successes but how you handle those setbacks and failures will predict how well you progress in the future of your sport or life itself. Look at those setbacks as time to learn about yourself and how you can overcome and come back bigger and better than before!
