More words of wisdom;

Dumbell bench presses: Lower the dumbells as far out as possible but keep the little-finger sides of the dumbells higher than the thumb sides, It focuses much more on the pecs rather than the triceps. The same holds true when you do dumbell presses for the shoulders. Tilt the dumbells so that again, the little finger side is higher than the thumb sides, in other words tilt the dumbells towards your head, carefully, as you press the db's up to the finish position. That places all the stress on the deltoid rather than the triceps.
As former mr. olympia, larry scott, wrote in the article; "This is not just slightly important, it's the difference between a so-so exercise and a great one".

Words of workout wisdom;

I was reading an article in ironman magazine, may 2006 issue, and i came across a sidebar with some great tips from former mr. olympia larry scott. You younger lifters probably are not familiar with the name but if you have ever used a preacher bench in your biceps workout, then you should be aware that larry scott invented a variation of that bench and made it famous. Not to forget the fact that he built himself amazing biceps while incorporating the bench as well as scott curls into his workouts! The article is too long to include everything i want to include so i will touch upon a couple today and continue another day with the tips.
BENCH PRESSES-When you do bench presses, your chest and triceps do the work. The key is to disconnect the triceps and make the pecs do all the work. Here's how: Use a false grip, meaning put your thumb on the same side of the bar as the rest of your fingers, do not wrap your thumb around the bar. While bench pressing, press with the outside bottom of the palms. In addition, try to focus on squeezing your arms closer together as you press the weight upward rather than driving with your triceps. It places all the tension on your pecs rather than your arms.
Just use caution while using the false grip, get used to it with a light weight first and then go back to your normal weight, it is a dangerous way to do any pressing exercise, so use caution!

NUTS: Nuts keep proving their pulmonary power. A harvard study showed that eating about 5 ounces of nuts a week reduced cardiovascular disease by 35%! Try brazil nuts, which are high in vitamin B or almonds, make sure they are from a source that is not cooked in peanut oil, try getting them raw and unsalted and not flavored with honey or covered in choclate!

alcohol decreases inflammation;

People who drink moderately live longer, have fewer heart attacks and strokes, and a reduced risk of alzheimer's disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Moderate drinking improves metabolic health by lowering insulin resistance, which influnces sexual performance, abdominal fat deposition, blood pressure, blood fats, and inflammation. Mississippi state university researchers found that alcohol decreased the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which increases whole body inflammation and promote degenerative diseases such as coronary artery disease.
The evidence of moderate alcohol consumption is overwhelming, it prevents a myriad of diseases, increases lifespan, and can act as a positive social force. Conversely, heavy alcohol consumption has disastrous health consequences and is linked to a smorgasgord of social ills that include, automobile accidents, violent crime, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
Lets not forget the diseases associated with high alcohol consumption, shortened lifespan, liver disease and alcoholism that wrecks not only the alcoholics life but the life of those around them as well.
If you don't drink don't start and if you do drink keep it in moderation!
